And so, this is my last editor’s letter, and for the editorial team, our last issue. These are our last layouts, our last photo shoots, the last of our gorgeous house stories and our last-ever cover. It’s been 24 glorious years of print for Inside Out, celebrating more than two decades of Australian design, style and renovations over 236 issues. That’s a lot of inspiration and information. Our pages have also reflected the lives of the people who work here and have pulled this magazine together every month. They’ve been touched by our own renovation dreams, our new babies, kitchens on a budget, every paint colour crisis, HSC trials, landscaping challenges, old dogs, new puppies, and plenty of house-moving dramas – it’s all been there on our pages. Eliza Gosse is an aficionado of Australian mid-century modern design. It informs her personal style and was a foundation influence in her paintings, but is not the only one. “People do tend to pigeonhole me and say, ‘She just paints mid-century modernist architecture,’ but it’s so much broader. It started at art school [Sydney’s National Art School], but now it’s moved onto the memories attached to a time that’s gone – always in warm, nostalgic tones.” Eliza’s research for her work often includes scouring a prized collection of 1970s decorating magazines, she explains. “That’s where I get inspiration, and I love it when I put a painting up on a wall and someone says, ‘Oh my gosh, we had that little Kartell table at my grandma’s place.’That’s so fun for…

Since moving to Australia from his native Brazil, Ivan Ferreira has been taking the Sydney flower scene by storm. Having worked in his family’s event and party-planning business back home, the choice to enrol in a floristry course through Pearsons School of Floristry was an easy one. “I’m all about the little details, and floristry combines my interests of interior design and decoration,” says Ivan, who credits leading florist Ferdinando De Freitas of Garlands for giving him his start.
