Dear Friends While planning the themes covered in Victoria’s latest volume, Our Hearts Are in Scotland, I came upon the endearing term coorie. “A hug of a word,” shares author Gabriella Bennett, who defines it as the “Scottish art of deriving comfort, well-being, and energy from wild landscapes and convivial interiors.” She explains the informal usage, which is more personal in nature, as the snug welcome of nestling affectionately with a loved one. Both senses of the word resonate with me in contemplating both the new book and our September/October double issue. Captivated by the country’s immense beauty from the first glimpses of the features you will preview here—including the exterior of Sir Walter Scott’s beloved abode, Abbotsford, which graces the book’s cover—I am swept away by romantic vistas of sunlight falling…
