Seeking fresh sounds
FROM THE EDITOR I do a Friday night radio show on a local community radio station: me and one of my longest of Australian friends, playing music and complaining about the world — it sometimes gives me flashbacks to Friday nights in high-school days, when we’d go round to someone’s house, take turns to play a side of vinyl each and get drunk on a mickey of Southern Comfort between us. (We didn’t call it a ‘mickey’ back then, but I do now, because of Tom Waits.)
